Aripeka West

Did Babe Ruth stay here when he was in Aripeka?

These pictures were taken in 1986, looks like the cabin dates back to 1898.  Does anyone know if this cabin is still standing?  Did the "No Name Storm" get it in 1993?

Pretty Butterflies

Since Spring began I have noticed lots of butterflies on the flowers at Aripeka West.  They look so pretty flying from flower to flower.  Photo by Sandy Lindsey

Welcome the Hurricane Season 2013

Today has been pretty much a total wash-out, rain has been falling most of the day, sometimes heavy storms with a little thunder and sometimes just very softly.  It even rained off and on last night.  The rain is good for our park, keeps the flowers blooming and the grass green!  It looks as though the rain may stay with us for a while, possibly the first Tropical Depression of the year is churning through the Gulf of Mexico heading towards Florida.  The storm is expected to pass across Florida coming ashore in the Big Bend area on Wednesday.  Just in case there is a change, please check around your home and "batten down the hatches", better to be prepared then it is to be caught short!  The storm is being monitored as Invest 91 at this time but will be called Andrea should it develop in to a Tropical Storm with wind speeds above 38 MPH.  Welcome to Hurricane Season 2013

Aripeka West Grill Out!

Fun night at our Grill Out!  Those attending were Linda, Nancy, Nancy & Tony, Rina, Jon, Crystal  and CJ, Bill, Trish, Karl and Gail, Kim, Steve and Jack, Dustin and Emily, Jack, Jeff and Jim and Judy.  We cooked chicken, steaks, chops, burgers, smoked sausage and hotdogs. We had lots of fun. Be sure to watch our blog for new events at Aripeka West!

Remember to join the fun on Monday June 3rd at 6 PM in the RV park.  The park will supply the side dishes, just bring what you want to grill .  Bring just what you need for your family, everybody is bringing something to grill!  See you there!

Sun & Rain

Today at Aripeka West it finally rained!  We have been waiting a long time for a good soaking!  Around 3PM there was a short downpour and then around 6PM came the real "soaker"!  We had the usual puddles, but they were soaking in fast giving the very dry grass and landscape plants a much needed long, cool drink!  The sun was out for a few minutes during the rain, did anyone see a rainbow?  Oh, I forgot to mention, until around 3PM the sun was shining brightly and it was a beautiful day to be outside.  The Humane Society of the Nature Coast held it's annual fundraiser "Cruisin' for Critters" Poker Run this morning and the rain held off!  Last stop was R'Beach Restaurant on Shoal Line Blvd for some food and drink with 10% going to the shelter.
